Thanksgiving

I had two big turkeys this year for Thanksgiving, very yummy!  So my contribution to the meals were desserts, and I was going to make a cheesecake and the Green Tea Mille Crêpes Cake that I mentioned in the last post.  Just as I was about to make the crêpes, a friend told me about an amazing deal on the new Kindle Fire that he had found online.  Apparently, some Target store was selling them for $123 and Walmart was price-matching it!!  But in the end, I didn't buy any Kindle Fires and I didn't make my crêpes cake.

But I had free time today so I made it!!  It didn't turn out as pretty as the one I ate and it's in the fridge now, so don't know how it will taste.

Mille Crêpes

I had mille crêpes for the first time and they are so good!  They were from Lady M, and I really want to learn how to make it.  Searched for recipes online and found this amazing Green Tea version that looks so pretty.  It doesn't look too hard to make so I will probably try to make it for Thanksgiving!!

P.S. The blueberry cobbler up there has no direct relations to this post...just feel that I always need a pic in a post and this was a very yummy cobbler I had in Maine.

Kpop

If you didn't know already, I love my kpop!!  I don't even remember when this started (maybe college), but Big Bang was the first kpop group that I listened to and still is my favorite!  I went to a free kpop concert recently, and it's pretty sad that the picture above of the video screen is the best picture I took all night.  The peepz that were there included 2PM, Shinee, Beast, Kim Tae Woo, Sistar, 4 Minute and a lot of other oldie singers.

Maine

I went on a mini summer vacation to Maine recently.  Maine is a pretty chill state with lots of lighthouses and seafood.  It was fun just driving around and relaxing.  The seafood, namely lobsters, wasn't as cheap as I thought it would be =(

This trip was pretty spontaneous because we didn't book any hotels beforehand and we didn't have a set itinerary on what places we wanted to go to.  Luckily, we were able to find hotels that had rooms available (though one night,we had to call several hotels to find one that had vacancies and wasn't expensive).

Macarons

Ever since I first tasted macarons, I've been wanting to take a stab at making them.  But every time I read the recipes and people's comments, it seemed like such a daunting task.  And I suck at whipping egg whites.

But then I saw a recipe on Tartelette for PB & J macarons!  So this past weekend, I got all my stuff ready and made them.  But my macarons did not even look like macarons....it looked a big sheet of flat almond cookie.  I think my egg whites were not whipped enough .....Anyways, don't know if I'm going to try to make macarons any time soon.  It was really depressing to see them all go flat and get friendly with their neighbors.

Pork & Cabbage Buns

I made pork and cabbage buns with my mom today!  They were surprising easy to make (maybe because my mom did most of the work...haha).  The dough for the bun was just flour, sugar, water and yeast.  It was cool to see the dough rise after we let it sit for awhile.

We decided to cook it two ways: steam & pan fried.  Pan fried was definitely much more tastier!

BB Cream

I recently found out about BB Creams.  BB, standing for Blemish Balm, is apparently all the rage in Korea.  Boscia came out with one and I decided to try it out.
The lady at Sephora put it on for me and it works pretty well!  It minimized my pores and gave my face a dewy look.  Even my coworker commented that I looked refreshed.
The downside is the price ($38) and time it takes to apply.  I'm not a makeup person so I'll have to see how long it takes for me to put on.
